What’s your story Jan?

Hello, who are you and what brought you to INVERTO?

My name is Jan Mersmann. I’m 27 and grew up in Rheinberg am Niederrhein in Germany.

After graduating from high school, I moved to Aachen to study engineering management at RWTH Aachen University, specializing in mechanical engineering. I then spent time abroad in Sweden and China doing various internships, after which it was clear to me that I wanted a career that would offer me lots of variety and international experience. The connection to procurement and supply chain management came through my Masters in China, in which I analyzed asymmetric information distribution between suppliers and customers.

I heard about INVERTO through my involvement with a student organization called Enactus. At first as an intern and later as a student trainee, I was able to work from the get-go with customers on site on my own projects, and was always highly respected by the team. More than anything, it was the high degree of individual responsibility and the very good team spirit – both within the projects and outside of work – that convinced me to join INVERTO as a consultant.

What do you do at INVERTO?

I am a Principal and mainly work on projects with industrial companies. I particularly enjoy dealing with what are often technical problems and appreciate the international aspect of my work.

In addition to project work, I am also involved with supply chain digitization in our Supply Chain Management Competence Center, where I generate ideas on how to achieve sustainable savings potential by implementing new technologies.

If you could pick one superpower to have, what would it be?

To be able to beam myself from one place to another. Holiday travel and the weekly journey to customers would be so much more relaxed.

Do you have a favorite place?

The ski slopes! As soon as the ski slopes in the Alps are open, I’m up in the mountains. That is where I can really unwind.

What was the last gig you went to?

Kasalla and Querbeat. I’m a big fan of the Cologne music scene.
