The Boston Consulting Group takes over procurement and supply chain management consultancy INVERTO

Move will help BCG strengthen activities in procurement and operations segment

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) continues to expand its presence in the procurement and operations segment by taking over INVERTO GmbH, a management consulting firm specializing in procurement and supply chain management. By acquiring the Cologne-based company, BCG further diversifies its range of services for clients in this segment.

“We are very pleased to welcome INVERTO to BCG. We will continue driving our business forward by building on our own growth, as well as through specific complementary acquisitions,” said Carsten Kratz, senior partner at BCG and head of the German management team. “With their proven technical expertise, and a business model that would appeal to our clients, the team at INVERTO is a good fit for BCG.”

“The acquisition of INVERTO is complementary to our existing range of services in the field of operations and will help BCG quickly expand its offering in this segment,” said Christian Greiser, BCG partner and global leader of the Operations practice.

“BCG is an ideal partner for INVERTO, particularly at this point in time. The merger opens up great new opportunities for both the firm and all our staff,” said Dr. Kiran Mazumdar, managing partner of INVERTO. “This partnership presents us with an ideal solution that will enable us to tap into the global market’s dynamic growth potential, while simultaneously adding our capabilities to BCG’s already extensive range of services.”

Market for consulting services in operations is growing
INVERTO will continue operating independently as part of BCG. As it pursues new growth strategies within BCG, INVERTO’s three managing partners will continue to lead day-to-day operations alongside the firm’s other managing directors. INVERTO currently has 130 employees in Germany, Austria, the UK, and China. Its client base includes multinational corporations, leading small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as large private-equity firms.

The strong growth in demand for consulting services in the operations sector is largely due to developments in digitization, increasingly globalized and volatile global markets, and the desire for more efficient yet flexible structures. “Modern management consultancy requires the synergy and cooperation of the brightest minds, as well as the best methods, tools, and data analyses,” said Kratz. “This also applies to all areas of expertise that we are involved in – including segments in operations such as procurement and supply chain management. In all these aspects, INVERTO is a meaningful addition to our capabilities.”
